As we continue our discussion on #Teams, let's look at the various categories, obviously each has a purpose leading to ultimate vision.
 
Teams can be formal, informal, in our daily lives we form or be part of teams albeit informally, like the buddy groups, while in an organization it happens quite formally with a specific purpose.
 
#Strategic/#Executive/Top Management/#C-suite/senior leadership team
This is the top leadership that takes a high level view, sets the direction, formulate the purpose, define critical objectives, develop strategies, empowers and guides others to achieve them, regulates the pace and monitor progress. This team builds the organizational culture and inspires people to bring out the best.
 
#Management/functional teams
These are divisional heads with #functional experience specialized in managing different areas of business notably; #Business#Operations#Sales#Marketing#Human resources, #Accounting etc.
 
#Cross functional team
Essentially brings together different functional expertise, which offers fresh perspectives in problem solving, offer renewed ideas and can lead to efficient and #innovative decision making.
 
#Virtual teams
This is the name of the game especially since the #COVID times. These members are physically dispersed, yet connected through #technology in order to achieve common objectives. Virtual teams have specific advantages and have specific challenges too. Hence it's vital that they are driven by strong motive of collective achievement.
 
#Support team
They are people with specific expertise that supports and guides a functional team on use of specific tools, #technologies and #applications, best example could be the #IT support team, and #customer #support team.
 
#Matrix type
In this format the employees report to two are more managers, who in turn could also report to two or more functional heads. The concept is to ensure the continuity and efficiency. I was part of it in my work experience and can say that while this is conceptualized with the best intentions, it could lead to complications unless the functional heads share equal interest, commitment and are in total sync.
 
#Operational
The primary objective is to manage all the affairs at optimum levels, including smooth running of the operations, ensuring peak #performance from all concerned, maximize profitability with sustained growth, #efficiency and #productivity.
 
We have briefly touch upon some key categories, practically speaking teams could also be project specific, problem specific, temporary in nature and many more depending upon the need.

Now can the teams be #toxic?! Yes you read it right, can teams effect adversely to the organization, we will be looking at this aspect in our next post, meanwhile please keep your views and comments coming in.
